If your teen’s friend group wants to ride to a school dance together, you are probably the parent who got volunteered to figure it out. Good news: a party bus is one of the safest ways to do it, as long as you book the right company and set clear rules. Here is the checklist we share with Castle Rock parents.
1. Count Heads Early
Get a firm number of students before you book. Dresses and suits take more room than you think, so if the group is close to a vehicle’s limit, go one size up.
- 12 to 16 students: a Sprinter party van
- 20 to 30 students: a 30-passenger party bus
- 35 to 50 students: a 45 or 50-passenger bus
2. Set the Rules Before You Pay
- No alcohol, vaping or smoking on board, ever
- A parent or guardian signs the agreement and is the contact for the night
- Get the driver’s name and number before pickup
- Decide in advance whether the trip ends early if the rules are broken
3. Build the Timeline
- Pickup: one home or a central meeting spot
- Photos: Rock Park, downtown Castle Rock or your school
- Dinner: the bus waits outside
- The dance: drop-off at the entrance, pickup at a set time
- Home: every student dropped at their own address
4. Know the Minimum
School dances in high season have a 6-hour minimum, which covers photos, dinner, the dance and the drop-offs.
5. Split the Cost Fairly
Collect each family’s share before you pay the deposit. It avoids awkward conversations later.
6. Questions to Ask Any Company
- Are your drivers licensed and insured?
- What happens if the rules are broken?
- What are the payment and cancellation policies?
